'Cause that's the way it is

Hi guys !!

I had a very lovely weekend. On Friday we went first to a pub for one drink and I had a Margarita. It tasted really bad, but they had put some salt on the edges of the glass so that made it better. We were there only for like 15 minutes and then moved to another bar for a beer. Niko got a text message from Charles (a Brittish guy) that he was almost at Hengshang road. Niko went outside to look for them and I followed. When we met Charles there was this woman with him and I told her that my name was Ifi and she asked if it came from "Ifijenia" and I said yes. I understood then that she was Greek so I asked her if she spoke any Greek and she said yes. We became friends right away. It was so weird to talk with another Greek person in SHANGHAI.

We stayed at the pub for an hour or so but we decided to start moving to another place. We walked a pretty long walk and got to Cotton club, unfortunately it was already closing so we coulnd't get in. We walked a bit again and got to this huge club called Phebe. It was an open bar club with a 100 RMB entrance fee. It was an awesome place and we had a lot of fun. We got home at around 5 am and went straight to sleep. We woke up at 12.30 and went to wake up everyone and went downtown. I had a terrible hangover but the sight seein bus trip helped, alot.

In the evening we went to Phebe again and it was awesome again. We French people, German people, Chech people and Chinese people. But the best of them all Finnish people! It was so weird to meet Finnish people !! And they were super fun! We left Phebe at around 3 am and woke the next day again at 12.30 and went downtown. I didn't have a hangover this time so it was nice just hanging around downtown. We went to madamme tussauds and a arcade where me and Mika played this coin game that was super fun and all the Chinese people there were just watching us.

China oh China, I love you China

Hello everybody !

This week hasn't been so interestin. It might be because everything is not so new anymore but I'm kind of familiar about what is happening here. Sure the toilets could be more comfortable. The "hole in the ground" thing is just not seally my scene. I'm getting used to the traffic too. I'm not so worried about the cars running over me. Now I can walk the street without giving a damn if a car comes, like a Chinese person.

The rush hours are still gettin on my nerves, but I can see that it's getting on the nerves of the Chinese people as well. I was totally schocked this morning on the bus when I noticed that somebody had his hand on my butt. I was thinking for a moment that it's my imagination but the he moved his fingers and I jumped! I moved away feeling disgusted!! I was thinking that if he does it again I am definitely gonna punch him so hard he wouldn't even remember his name!!

Work is getting more fun day by day! The lady sitting next to me in the office is awesome! She took me to KFC to eat yesterday and today to a Japanese food market to eat sushi!! She speaks really good English and she is fun to talk to. She said that tomorrow we are gonna go to eat traditional Chinese lunch! I can't wait!! Oh and on my first day here I was given a duty list with 6 things. I have finnished 5 of them and I'm starting the 6th one now... What am I going to do here on my last too weeks??

OH and my boys got their suits yesterday!! They looked so nice. My boys are growing up.

Okay that's all for today see you again ;)

Zai Jian!!

p.s. i bought melon soda!

Out with the old and in with the new... or was it the other way?

Yo!!

Shanghai is still amazing as ever, but the weater is getting worse. I hate rain seriously, but it's fun watching the Chinese girls run because of the rain and puttin news papers infront of their faces so it wont ruin their makeup. Haven't they ever heard about waterproof makeup?

It's been a blast to be hear really. It still feels somehow unreal but I know that everything happening is real. It's quite fun actually, but I really don't miss Finland at all. I mean, the boys are a bit homesick, but I'm not. At all. I wish I could stay longer here. I like this place. I like my workplace too, even though there isn't so much to do every day. It's like somedays are busy and somedays I have nothing to do. It's like in almost every office. I wonder how the boys are doing now..

Oh did I tell you? The boys ordered tailor made suits!! It's so nice, I'm really excited to see them wearing suits. I ordered a little bit more formal dress from the tailor and we are probably gonna go to a jazz club all together.

Last Friday was awesome. After work I was so happy and everything, because it was weekend. We went downstairs to the hotel restaurant for dinner and after that we went to our rooms to get ready for SOHO. My friend Eetu had told me about SOHO before I left for Shanghai. It was a night club with open bar and then the entrance fee was about 6 €. When we went there I paid about 8€ and the boys 10€. For some reason the ladys got in cheaper. As I said, it was an open bar, so we could drink as much as we wanted, but we had to have the same glass. If we ordered beer, we first had to give the bottle back to get an other one.

On Saturday we all had a terrible hangover but we went to the city. We all just wanted to go to McDonald's and after that we just visited starbucks. In the evening we had dinner plans with Lesther who was Annemaijas friend or something like that. Awesome guy. He was the one who gave us the tailors phonenumber and everything.

On Sunday we went shoppin in the morning and it was bad because me and Antti went to sleep at 4 am. Niko came to wake me up at 9 am. I didn't want to go but I wanted to go, so I went. I bought a bag, a wallet, a scarf and a panda t-shirt for my brother. I was happy with my shopping. OH and we ate at Burger King. Dude I will never eat that cheese burger again, it sucked.

This morning at the subway it was really crowded and I got seriosly angry again. I hate the rush hours here. They ruin my morning very easily. But later when the most of the crowd had gone off the train there were these 4 old men staring at me and I was thinking what was going on?? Then I remembered that I am a freaking foreigner. They were looking at me like I was the statue of liberty or something! I started laughing a little bit and they all just looked at me for a second and the started laughing too! It was fun. Also the guy that works at the South Huangpi Station's Familymart was really happy to see me again. Yesterday he told me that my Chinese was really good, even though I can't really speak it that much.

I've learned a lot of Chinese while staying here. Now I can order food from the menu and say how many beers I want! I know how to ask where some places are. So basically I can communicate better with the Chinese people now.

A really weird thing that happened the other day was that when I was walking to People's Square subway there were these Chinese about 20 year old kids hanging out there. They asked me if I could take a picture for them and I just took it and then I talked to then for a bit. They were actually really fun to talk to and everything, especially because one of them spoke Japanese. They asked me to go and see the tea ceremony with them but I was in a hurry so I couldn't go. Later when I came back to the hotel Mufasa told me that he had seen some kids from Beijing and I asked him that where there 2 guys and three girls and he said that yes, and that they had asked him to go and see the tea ceremony with them........ What the heck is wrong with these people! Thank God I didn't go with them!

Everything here is better than anything in Finland...

Shanghai is still amazin as ever. I still have this feeling that everything that is happenin isn't real. It's all just too good to be true.

My work at Finnair is actually fun, but it's kind of tirin sometimes. Today is my third day here and I'm still waiting for something excitin to happen.

The rush hours are scary here. Everybody pushing themselves through the crowd to get on the subway is fun to look at, but when you are in the middle of it, it's not so fun. On Monday it was okay to be on the subway during the rush hour because I was with Antti & Mika. It was like I had to bodyguards with me.

Yesterday evening was quite interesting. We all drank a little bit and had fun. I think that this must be the first time that I actually like beer. I've never liked it before, but here it tastes different. Well the Tsintao beer that I like has only 3,3% alcohol so that might be one of the reasons that I like it more. I had a sip of Mikas heineken yesterday and it tasted awful. Also the booze here is AWFUL! I don't understand how the guys like it!

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only sane person in our little group. Just kidding, I'm not sane either.

Zai Jian!

The F'ing big city of Shanghai

Hi everybody! I'm in shanghai now! The flight here didn't go so smoothly because the guy next to me was sooooo drunk. It was kind of fun though! I've made new friends already and everything seems amazing. We went sight seeing yesterday to the bund, yu yuen garden, old city town and jade buddha temple. We had an awesome tour guide and she was really fun to talk to and she offered to tell us the names of the bars that the young people here go to. Today me, Antti & Mika went to take a walk and ended up going to downtown and we had an amazing time. Ofc they were making fun of me because I'm a girl. We met this old Chinese guy that took us to a pub and he complimented my figures? It was weird. Like big time. I'll tell you more about my work place and everything tomorrow!!! Zai jian!! p.s. for some reason I can't upload any photos but I'll try and find a photo sharing site that isn't blocked.
